Seasoned Community Builder Joins Cristo Rey Miami's Leadership Team

Prior to returning to Miami in 2018, she lived in New England with her husband and 6 children, where she engaged in the community through Malta House, a crisis pregnancy center in Norwalk, CT and various youth and family-building programs.

With a proven track record in capital campaign fundraising for Mercy Hospital’s Emergency Room expansion and United Way of Miami-Dade’s Center for Excellence, Peterson brings enthusiasm to Cristo Rey Miami High School’s start-up and capital campaigns as it prepares to open the school in Fall 2020. Cristo Rey Miami High School will serve economically disadvantaged youth by providing them with a top-notch college-prep education combined with a unique corporate work study experience.

During her early career, Peterson worked in education for Miami-Dade Public Schools as marketing and development director of the Parent Academy, as well as a language arts teacher at Shenandoah Elementary School.  She holds a Bachelor of Arts in journalism and mass communications from Florida International University in Miami. Her extensive experience in fundraising and passion for offering dignity and hope to all make her a true asset to the South Florida community.
